About Cley-next-the-sea

Cley has recently been voted one of the top ten romantic places in the United Kingdom, anyone who has visited it will not be surprised. The sea, which is only half a mile away, is approached through the Marshes, which form part of a designated area of outstanding natural beauty. The whole area is a dream for walkers and bird watchers. Cley windmill is a local landmark, and is open to the public.

During the 13th century, Cley was one of the largest ports in the country. Today there are several shops including a wonderful delicatessen, a smoke house which smokes its' own fish on the premises, a pottery, an art gallery, several cafes and tea shops, a hotel which serves delicious local produce, and a pub.
 
Orchard Cottage is situated on a quiet road behind the main coastal road that goes through the village, there are several footpaths close to the house that weave around the village. The cottage sleeps six adults and two children.
